Support the Baldwin Fellowship Program

Meet a few of the 2021 Baldwin Fellows. Top row from left: Mariam Bundala, I Made Agus Julianto, Tewabe Negash Kassaw, Bottom row from left: Venanzio Njuguna Munyaka, Pamela Akuku Achieng, Alex Chege, Winfred Wambui Mbogo.

This year we received a record number of Baldwin Fellowship applications, and we gave a record of 22 Fellowships to outstanding students from six countries. This is nearly double the number of Fellowships we are typically able to give.

The Leakey Foundation strongly believes that geography should not determine who can become a scientist. We started the Baldwin Fellowship program in 1978 to help students from African nations attend graduate school and earn advanced degrees. Later, the program expanded to include students from countries outside of Africa. Now you will find Baldwin Fellows leading research in countries from Azerbaijan to Zimbabwe.

We need your help to continue to expand this successful program. A group of generous sponsors has pledged to quadruple-match all donations to the Baldwin Fellowship program until August 31.

Give today, and your donation will be matched x4! Any amount makes a difference.
