Join The Leakey Foundation for Bay Area Discovery Days

The Leakey Foundation will be offering fun hands-on science activities for children and families at two upcoming Bay Area Science Festival Discovery Days.

Bring your family and join us at the North Bay Discovery Day in Santa Rosa on October 27 and Discovery Day at AT&T Park in San Francisco on November 3. These free events feature “dynamic demonstrations, engaging experiments, geeky games, and astounding activities for all ages!” This celebration of science will include hundreds of hands-on activities and opportunities to meet local scientists and engineers.

At a moment when society feels dangerously polarized, fragmented and unstable, the symposium “Our Tribal Nature: Tribalism, Politics, and Evolution” offers a forum for understanding our human urge to form alliances. On September 19, leading anthropologists, authors, psychologists, and political scientists including Sebastian Junger, Richard Wrangham, and Francis Fukuyama will gather at the Morgan Library in New York to examine the evolutionary origins and function of tribalism, our social transition from tribes to states, and the role tribal identity plays in our increasingly divided world.
