Summer Virtual Travel Series: Argentina

You’re invited to join our virtual “Summer Travel Series” and explore fascinating archaeological and primate research sites with Leakey Foundation scientists as your guides.
Support a good cause while you learn from top experts, tour places the public will never get to visit, and “Zoom” to the far corners of the world from the comfort of your own home.
Virtual tours will take place on June 25, July 7, and August 26. All proceeds from this series will go towards the Primate Research Fund.

June 25 – Argentina
The first event in the Summer Travel Series takes you to Argentina for a behind-the-scenes virtual tour of the Owl Monkey Project with Dr. Eduardo Fernandez-Duque and Dr. Claudia Vellegia.
Get an insider’s view of fascinating multi-disciplinary research, and learn about the habitat and behavior of monogamous owl monkeys from the world’s foremost experts. You will also learn about the flora and fauna that make up the characteristic ecosytem of the Humid Gran Chaco region.
About the tour
• The tour will begin at 5 pm Pacific with a performance of Argentine tango and folkloric music by Guillermo Garcia.
• Dr. Fernandez-Duque and Dr. Valeggia will give a presentation about their research and lead you on a virtual tour of their field site in Argentina.
• Following the presentation, you will have the opportunity to interact with the scientists in a lively question and answer session.

The Summer Travel Series is a fundraiser for the Primate Research Fund, a fund that provides emergency grants to long-term primate field research sites.
This funding supports local communities while ensuring continuity of data collection.
All donations will be quadruple-matched by Anne and Jeff Maggioncalda and the Ann and Gordon Getty Foundation.
