We are pleased to announce the fall 2024 Francis H. Brown African Scholars: Ester Lourenço, Georgina Luti, Aggrey Omuyangu, and Tekie Tesfamichael. This prestigious award acknowledges their contributions to the study of human origins and their exceptional potential for continued success.

Grantee Spotlight: Stephen Magohe

Stephen Magohe is a geologist and assistant lecturer at the University of Dar es Salaam who is pursuing his PhD at the University of Calgary. In 2024, Magohe received a prestigious Francis H. Brown African Scholarship for his project “Investigating early Homo habitat through geoscience at Oldupai Gorge, Tanzania.”

The Leakey Foundation is proud to announce the 2024 Francis H. Brown African Scholars. Every year, through this scholarship fund, the foundation supports East African students and researchers working in the earth sciences or botany related to human origins.
