Ways to Give

There are many options available to you if you are considering leaving a legacy gift to help ensure the future of The Leakey Foundation.

When you place a bequest in your will or living trust and notify The Leakey Foundation, we will invite you to become a member of the F. Clark Howell Legacy Society.

Charitable Bequest

A simple way to ensure The Leakey Foundation can continue our work for years to come is a gift in your will or living trust, known as a charitable bequest.

Your charitable bequest is the most important type of gift for building The Leakey Foundation’s future.

These bequests are simple to arrange, and there are a few types for you to consider.

Specific

A specific bequest names The Leakey Foundation as beneficiary of a specific amount from your estate.

Sample language –

I give, devise, and bequeath to The Leakey Foundation, a nonprofit corporation of the State of California, tax ID# 95-2536475, located at 1003 B O’Reilly Avenue, San Francisco, CA  94129:

(Choose)

1)    The sum of $________.

2)    __________ shares of stock in ___________ Company

3)    my real property commonly known as _____________.

Residual

A residual bequest comes to us after your estate expenses and specific bequests are paid:

Sample language –

I give, devise, and bequeath to The Leakey Foundation, a nonprofit corporation of the State of California, tax ID# 95-2536475, located at 1003 B O’Reilly Avenue, San Francisco, CA  94129 all or (state a percentage) of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate both real and personal, to be used for its general support.

Contingent

The Leakey Foundation can be named as a contingent beneficiary in your will or trust if one or more of your specific bequests cannot be fulfilled.

Sample language –

In the event of the death of any of the beneficiaries of my estate, I give, devise, and bequeath to The Leakey Foundation, a nonprofit corporation of the State of California, tax ID# 95-253-6475, located at 1003 B O’Reilly Avenue, San Francisco, CA  94129, (specific or residual language as above).
