Humans have been challenged over the years with perplexing questions as to their origins, their evolving nature and their environmental future.
The support of scientific research which both asks and answers these questions is the challenge that has been accepted by The Leakey Foundation.
The Leakey Foundation began as a small group of friends gathered in a living room during Dr. Louis Leakey’s periodic speaking tours in the United States, when he would often discuss his plans for future fieldwork. Often these science enthusiasts were inspired to write small checks in support of one or two promising investigations, thereby making possible many of the seminal studies that form the foundation of human origins research.
For over 40 years, Foundation members have enjoyed a front row seat to the unfolding story of our human origins. The membership is now a diverse group of science patrons of all ages and many different nationalities.
